Our School Governors

The Governing Body comprises volunteers from a range of backgrounds, some are parents of children at the school, others members of staff, local authority or Church appointees and co-opted governors. In the main, Governors are not educational experts, rather a group of dedicated lay people sharing the common goal of making Finchingfield School the best it can be.

Governors undertake a range of training activities and bring the benefits of their professional and personal experience to the school.

The Governing Body is accountable to all interested parties, including: parents, Ofsted, the Local Authority, Chelmsford Diocese and the local community. The Governing Body provides strategic direction to the school and works with the Head teacher and staff to deliver improvement.

The Governing Body and Sub-Committee meet once a term. Additionally, some governors have particular areas of responsibility, which include: literacy, numeracy, child protection, inclusion, community cohesion, and health and safety. Governors carry out monitoring visits to evaluate performance, review and approve policy documents, and agree how the school’s annual budget is spent.
